On Sunday, February 21st 2016, the NAWMBA Boston Profession Chapter hosted our first event of the New Year at Downeast Cider House, in Charleston MA. This event included a fabulous tour of this handcrafted cider house and a post tour finger food brunch. Attendees of the event were given tasty cider recipes upon arrival, as well as a warm welcome into the Boston Professional Chapter. Whether chapter members or guests, the event also provided a great networking opportunity for both Students and Professionals in attendance.
Our Cider House tour guide, Sarah, shared the company’s unique start up story, beginning with the founders brewing cider in their college dorm rooms, and took tour goers through the entire brewing process, from apple pressing to canning. We were also excited to learn about their new location opening soon to expand production! Throughout the tour, the cider tastings kept flowing, and post tour Sean and Ross, the generous tap pourers, continued to share their wonderful brews.
Our goal in planning this event was to provide an educational, yet fun experience for all attendees and continue our mission of “Empowering Women in Business in the Greater Boston Area”. We strive for a unique event experience that goes beyond traditional networking, for which there are a plethora of opportunities within the city. One of the event attendees, Dina, said “I’ve been meaning to visit Downeast for awhile now, and even better to do so in the company of so many warm and welcoming women.” We were happy to provide a great and welcoming opportunity for our attendees to network and get to know each other better!
We wanted to give a special thank you to Debbie, the Downeast Taproom Manager for helping to coordinate the event and create a welcoming space for us and our attendees outside.
